DO NOT TELL ME NO Intrepid Women Book 1 edition by Kathryn Jane Literature Fiction eBooks

I didn't understand this book at. Hated the ending. I read it because I thought it involved horses!! I must have misread something. I don't like cloak and dagger stories, so if you like mystery or something like that, this story is for you. Must mention the editing which stopped me many times to back read, Like others have said good type story but poor editing. The heroine of the story was so pig headed, it was unbelievable .

DO NOT TELL ME NO Intrepid Women Book 1 edition by Kathryn Jane Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Kathryn Jane wrote a great story. If you like a fast pace, lots of humor, romance, and mystery, then I think you would really enjoy this book. I found it hard to put this book down. This is the second book that I have read by this author and I liked the first one so well that I purchased the entire series. That says a lot because I rarely do that. If you want a good read that has fun characters and a steady pace, then you should get this book. I don't think that you will be disappointed. Happy Reading!

Note My only negative about this book was editing errors. There are a lot of places that were missed during the editing process. A closer look at that problem might make future books more enjoyable. Not a really big deal, but worth mentioning.
I had things to do today. Instead I had to finish the story. It’s an emotional roller coaster of love, fear, sassiness, humor and frustration.

Cass is unaware that she’s being hunted by some bad guys or that a high tech family security business is watching over her.

When the bad guys get too close, her ‘one night stand’ turns out to be her protector. He and his siblings take her to their safe house and try to explain the situation.

Things just go crazy when Cass escapes and lives are on the line.

Good story. Just give yourself time to read the whole thing.
I liked it with a few reservations.
When they described Cassandra as a kick-ass woman in the book blurb? They weren't kidding. She had learned to be tough, she had to survive her childhood and her mother. When pushed, she shoved back. It wasn't very hard to like her pretty quickly.
Gage was also a pretty interesting character, although at times he had me shaking my head. He and his "team" keep her in the dark too much of the time to my way of thinking and I didn't like that. Also it was weird that they expected her to just fall in line with them, when they kept manipulating her and messing with her mind. They weren't smart enough to see that keeping her in the dark in just about everything wasn't going to bite them in the butt? Maybe it was over confidence in their abilities? And they did have abilities and some really good "toys".
There is plenty of action, twist and turns. They were some really good descriptions of locations, safe houses and things used to keep her captive and safe. The secondary people were good too. Well, not all of them were good but they were well written.
First and foremost, let me say the author is a very good storyteller. The premise of this book is a good one and entertaining. The execution, however, is not as strong as it could be.

It was hard to overlook some of the typos and grammatical errors. Some are understandable, but there were quite a few. Missing words, wrong words (descent when she meant decent, more than once), a lot (a WHOLE lot) of incorrect punctuation, that type of thing. Enough that it pulled me out of the story several times.

I always appreciate getting different POVs, in this case the H/h. I'm not certain I understand why the author chose to write Cass's POV in first person, though, when she wrote Gage's in third. Why not keep them the same? Additionally, a couple of times, it slipped into the wrong voice, using she or her when it should have been I (for Cass). The switch from first to third person jarred me almost every time.

Additionally, I get suspended belief, but this was a little much at times. This enormous family, all gorgeous and brilliant, and they can practically read each others' minds. After a while, it got really old. The explanation of the compound where Cass was held, the talking cat, all of it just became a little too much to swallow.

I'm really torn about whether or not I'd recommend this book to a friend. I strongly recommend an editor for Ms. Jane before she publishes anything else.
I just couldn't really enjoy this book. None of the characters were likeable and I couldn't figure out why the two main character fell in love. The storyline didn't have any build up and there was never a moment of relief that the characters got together. All around just poor writing. This was my first from this author and will be my last.
Love the idea of a strong female character but not one that doesn't have some smarts in the brain department. The constant poor choices that put her in danger got old. She even referred to herself as TSTL. The editing also needs to be stepped up. While it wasn't a deal breaker for me, it did freqently interrupt the flow of the story. I also didn't get any depth from the main characters and the relationship between them. All that came through was a lustful chemistry without a lot of substance to build on. With that said there were many things to like about this book. It does keep moving along without dragging. The plot is good but at times unbelievable but that is ok because this is fiction..right? Some fun dialogue through out. Overall it was an enjoyable read. I would read this author again.
This is the first book, I have read by this author. This book was confusing at first, but I started to follow when I realized what game the security company was playing. Cassandra is a very independent woman and she came out bratty and spoiled at times. Gage is your typical male, when it comes to attraction. It's why he messed up the first extraction of Cassandra in Vegas. This book spent more time on the attraction and relationship between these two and sometimes the story gets lost, then suddenly it catches up. The book didn't grab me as some suspense books, so I was able to read it in many sessions before I actually finished it.
I didn't understand this book at. Hated the ending. I read it because I thought it involved horses!! I must have misread something. I don't like cloak and dagger stories, so if you like mystery or something like that, this story is for you.
